Privacy Notice
This notice explains what information Quest Tales uses to create and deliver a personalized digital treasure hunt.
Quest Tales is for adult purchasers. A child should not place an order or submit information directly. By ordering, you confirm that you are a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult authorized to provide the personalization details.
Who is responsible for your information
Quest Tales is operated by Alexander Shamin, an individual trader, who decides how the information described here is used. Privacy questions and requests go to hello@quest-tales.com.
Information we collect
- the purchaser's email address and order information;
- the child's first name and age;
- interests and a selected story theme;
- 4–5 general, safe places used to route the quest inside the home;
- for the Duo edition, a second child's first name, age and theme; for the Party Edition, the first names of up to eight party guests, entered by the adult purchaser; and
- messages you send to support.
Guest first names are used only to print the party pack (a crew certificate and a medal for each guest). Like the rest of the personalization details, they are removed from our delivery system once the PDFs have been sent; the checkout provider keeps its own order record under its policy.
Please use general place descriptions such as “sofa” or “bookshelf”. Do not enter a home address, school name, full legal name, health information, photographs, or any other sensitive detail.
How we use the information
We use the details only to process the order, create the personalized quest, deliver the PDF, prevent fraud, provide support, handle refunds, improve and develop our products and services, and meet accounting or legal obligations. We do not sell personalization information or use a child's details for advertising.
We may keep de-identified interest topics (for example "dinosaurs" or "space") in aggregate to understand which themes families ask for and to expand our list of suggested interests. These aggregate topic records are not linked to a child's name, your email, or a specific order.
Service providers
We share only the information needed with service providers that help us complete the order. These include Creem, the merchant of record that handles checkout, payment, and order processing; a classification service that may be used to interpret an interest you type in (the child's name is never sent to it); hosting and email providers used to process and deliver the file; and professional advisers or authorities when required by law.
Checkout is operated by Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ, Estonia), the merchant of record, which processes your data as described in its own privacy notice.
Retention and deletion
This website does not maintain a separate marketing database of children's profiles. Order and personalization details may remain in the systems needed to fulfill and support the purchase. We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for delivery, support, refunds, fraud prevention, accounting, and legal requirements.
You may ask us to delete or correct personalization information by emailing hello@quest-tales.com. We will remove information we control unless it must be retained for a legal or payment-record requirement. Third-party providers may keep records under their own policies and legal duties.
Cookies and payment data
We use Umami cookieless analytics without cookies or personal identifiers to measure aggregate visits. If you arrive from a link that carries campaign labels, those labels are stored in your browser for up to 30 days so the order can be attributed to the campaign. They are stored in local storage rather than in a cookie, they contain no name, email, or identifier for you, and clearing your browser data removes them.
If you accept the cookie banner, we also load Meta Pixel and Microsoft Clarity to measure ad performance and see how visitors use the page. These are not loaded until you accept; declining, or leaving the banner unanswered, means neither runs on your visit. Meta Pixel receives only anonymous browsing and purchase-funnel events (page views, form views, checkout starts, and a completed purchase with its amount) with no name, email, or other personal identifiers attached. Microsoft Clarity records anonymized page interactions; form fields that could contain your child's name or your email are masked before Clarity ever sees them, and we do not unmask them. Creem may use cookies and collects payment information on its checkout. Quest Tales does not receive or store full payment-card details.
Free sample quest
If you request the free sample quest, we use the email address you enter only to send you the sample files. To limit repeat requests we keep one-way hashed records of the address and of the requesting IP address, not the values themselves, for 7 days, after which they are deleted. If you also tick the box asking for occasional Quest Tales ideas, your address is added to our mailing list at Resend, our email provider; every message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you at any time. Without that box ticked, your address is not stored on any list.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Please provide only the minimum personalization details requested by the form.
Your choices and contact
You can request access, correction, or deletion of information we control, or ask a privacy question, by contacting hello@quest-tales.com. We may need to verify that you are the purchaser before acting on a request.
